BHS NHS inducts 23 new members

New NHS members

The Bellefontaine High School National Honor Society inducted 23 new members Wednesday night.

Many parents attended the ceremony, which was held in the BHS Auditorium.

High school juniors and seniors must complete an application and write an essay to be considered for induction.

Other requirements include a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and a minimum of 6 hours of community service each year in high school.

Students must also demonstrate the four pillars of NHS – Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.

The featured speaker was BCS Gifted Intervention Specialist Katie Davis.

Davis, who graduated from BHS in 2002, shared her life experiences with the new inductees.

Davis recalled being inducted into NHS.

She also challenged each student to make great choices.

Davis said we all control our choices, which will determine our future path.

She shared how her late grandfather, Jack Marshall, made a lasting impression on her because of his love for family, farming, and education.

Michelle Rohrer is the Bellefontaine NHS advisor.

Mason Stanley is the BHS NHS president.
